The star has given the full amount of his £25,000 honor cash to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the UK's independent live music spots.

He was presented with the prize on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the best record of the past year.

He has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

Fender also participated, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.

The money helped locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to challenges stemming from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Additional spaces received financial assistance in improving facilities and technical equipment that positively impacted musicians and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from concerts in large arenas supports the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.

Fender is among several artists to give his honor funds to charitable organizations.

In Pulp earned the prize in the mid-90s for their album Different Class, frontman Cocker stated that the group would donate their cash to the charity War Child.

In 2002, artist she divided her prize across a few charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Two years ago, they donated their prize money to the community center that nurtured their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Also 1994 winners the group contributed their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"Winning was sufficient," stated vocalist Heather Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our winning affected another person's life."

Recently, the MVT announced it had saved two local spots in that region, by placing them under local control.

One venue in the city and the second in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who acquire "ownership units" in the venues.
